EASY JET Starts Regular Flights from Gatwick to Sofia

EasyJet, the low cost airline carrier, has announced a new direct route from London to Bulgaria’s capital. The route will be serviced three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from Sofia airport to London Gatwick.

The direct flights from Gatwick to Sofia will commence on 6th November 2007. The no frills airline will offer tickets from just £51 return, making the capital city appealing as a weekend break destination as well as an easily accessible second property location.

When Bulgaria entered the EU in January this year, predictions were made it was only a matter of time before the big budget airlines moved into the market. This is great news for those with property investments in Sofia. London is the most popular destination from Sofia International Airport with 130,000 passengers taking the route annually. With these new frequent EasyJet flights this number looks set to increase even further.

Sofia was recently voted Europe’s cheapest living destination and property prices remain affordable in comparison with other emerging European markets.

Sofia has become one of the most popular regional headquarters for a range of international companies, attracted by the young and well educated population, quality computer skills and the lowest corporate tax rate in the EU (only 10%). The demand for office space within Sofia has remained high, which has led to residential properties rising in value.
