Bulgaria was one of the ten countries that pushed the biggest reforms that made it easier to do business, according to a World Bank report published on Wednesday.
The lender's report, titled Doing Business 2007, looks at legislative improvements in ten different areas, ranging from opening a new business, employment, getting credits and up until closing a business.
Bulgaria had the highest score on the payment of taxes indicator out of 178 countries covered by the report.
"Bulgaria eased the tax burden on businesses and made it easier to pay taxes online," the authors of the report said.
"[The country] also introduced private bailiffs to improve efficiency in enforcing judgments and it made building inspections less burdensome."
It also improved its legislation in dealing with licences and enforcing contracts, while showing no regress on any of the other indicators.
